Mystic Vs Mundane

When I sit down to write should I happen to flick to the Internet then all creativity is drained from me so I avoid that. On the other hand, I like using so as a conjunction (I was told at school not to use so as a conjunction), because it excites my rebellious nature. So some things lead us to the mundane others to the mystical.  By mystical I mean being fully aware, open, and compassionate. By mundane I mean routine chores.

Some questions we can answer instantly and intuitively.  Like if I asked you. 'What is more important, justice or mercy?' chances are you know without thinking. It strikes to our very soul and the answer is there for us. In truth, each is the handmaiden for the other and cannot be considered in isolation.  And so too, it is the case with the mystical and the mundane. Both are needed. One to inspire and create and the other to do.  If we take mysticism to its extreme we sit wearing a tea towel in an icy cave in a state of pure bliss and if we are too mundane we are zombies. A balance of consciousness is needed.

In the modern world, we have slipped too far into mundanity and a symptom of this is the use of slogans like 'Just do it' and 'Keep It Simple Stupid' and now 'It's not rocket science'.  When we use them we invoke the tired and old way while shutting down our intuition and higher knowing. When being busy is a badge of honour there is no time for contemplation or reverie.  No time to see a host of daffodils. No time for that ka ching moment. No time for that soul urge.
